Best Robot Vacuums for Pet Hair

Introduction

If you have watched any of our videos or read any of our posts, you might know we have a Corgi, KC. She's the face of Trustowrthyhomeadvice because she is a lot cuter than me. She is also a relentless shedder. If you're a dog lover like we are, you know those little furballs leave their mark everywhere. Having the best robot vacuums for pet hair is a must if you have a shedder like we do. We own the Roomba, and it's fantastic. We set it every morning at 3AM, and by the time we wake up, the floor is clean. It's a great feeling.

Robot Vacuum Maintenance is Critical!-Don't Skip This!

If you take any advice from this article, regargless of what robor vacuum you may decide on - KEEP UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE! It's been our experience that these little semi automonous gadgets will break down frequently if you don't do a few things. Keep your floors clear of smaller items like shoes with shoelaces. KC loves to chew No-Hide chews, she leaves pieces of them around large enough to get sucked in and bind up the rollers - and the robot is stuck until you wake up in the morning. Read the manual, keep spare parts like brushes and rollers and keep the charging contacts clean. We've found that after a few weeks, the contacts get enough build up on them, that the robot won't charge properly. I like using a small alcohol wipe to keep them clean. It only takes a few seconds, do this weekly and you will not regret it.

I own a home in a southern state that is unoccupied for 6 months would I have any problem with leaving it vacuum the house when nobody is around.

    1. John K

Hi Rob – 6 months is a long time, but it Should be fine if its mapped the space and you are using it frequently now. We leave ours alone all the time, although not for that long of a period of time. There’s a few issues that could happen. It may get stuck, if it does, it will be wherever it got stuck until you get back. Emptying the bags should happen more frequently than 6 months, but if the house is not occupied and you have it vacuum every week of so, that shouldn’t be a problem. The only thing it will be picking up is dust. The only other issue is maintenance. without any maintenance for 6 months, things could happen. In any event, the app should be able to alert you if there are any issues.
