I don't do an extensive amount of wood work but I needed a portable compact battery saw that took DeWalt batteries since my drill is a DeWalt. This thing fit the bill.

With it I cut plywood to board up broken windows and to make cabinet floors that have suffered water damage.

I've also shaved down doors to be hung. The blades that this saw accepts unfortunately are too small to cut all the way through a door. I have to cut one side, flip the door and make a cut on the other side. That first cut forces the tool to work hard because the blades it accepts can't cut the full thickness of the door. Still does it though. Very impressive.

Don't hesitate in buying this thing. It works.

Spent all day today cutting out drywall sections to repair settlement cracks - this thing was just the ticket. Using the vacuum attachment and the included diamond blade, almost NO dust when cutting drywall!

For those complaining about ergonomic issues, they just don't know how to use this type of saw. The "plunge" style guard is much safer than the exposed blade. It takes a little practice to get used to it. But there are alignment indicators on the front and rear of the saw shoe (the flat bit that tracks along you work surface.)

Personally I did not find the laser useful, it was better to focus on the front & rear guides.

Also for those who couldn't remove the blade, remember saws use a reverse thread (clockwise to loosen, counter-clockwise to tighten.)

I've no idea of the long term durability of this saw, but so far it does what I wanted it to do.

The ergonomics on this saw are terrible. The angle at which you have to use this saw make it very difficult to use.The safety features that cause the depth to lock until it is sawing material make it very difficult to use. It is a very sturdy saw and seemed to run good. The ergonomics make this really hard to use .

I bought this because it looks brilliant. I build bird nest boxes from large sheets of ply wood, I use a jigsaw for smaller cuts since its hard to cut a straight line and the circular saw for long straight lines since its heavy and doesn't wobble around. This saw looked to me like it would be middle ground, nice small hand held and easy to use.. not so much.
The saw comes with a guide that can be attached for straight cuts but no good for me since at around a max of 12 cm, its just not long enough.
The wood blade is very good quality and glides through ply wood like cheese but with no guide, can be hard to make a long straight cut. (The battery laser guide helps a lot though)
The saw also has an adjustable lever to lock the blade at a set depth but it doesn't take too much pressure to push the blade to the max depth anyway so it seems pointless to me..
Other than getting hand cramp holding the safety button in so you can use the saw, it's a ok tool and useful if you're used to using handheld saws. Just takes a little getting used to.
